A Louisiana home recently won the regional 2010 American Society Interior Design Excellence Design Gold Award for its creative and beautiful features of the master bedroom, according to The Shreveport Times.

Homeowner Natalie Miciotto has been working with interior designer Marlene Shaw for 10 years to get her room to look just the way she wants it.

"It just has a young, fresh feel which we really wanted," Miciotto told the news provider. "The colors are beautiful. It really is a gold room."

There are many notable touches that make the area stand out. A handcrafted Venetian mirror softly reflects the lights of a shining chandelier. Glass lamps are on bedside tables on either side of the bed and golden drapes flow down from the window frames.

A modern painting hangs above a writing desk and an acrylic coffee table's unique, turned legs serves as a distinct focal point. The sofa and chair are made of goat hair, some of the softest fabric in the world.

Those who are looking to create their own comfortable haven may want to invest in custom drapery. These window treatments can be customized to fit any space's theme, boasting a wide variety of patterns and colors.
