Decorate for the holidays with wood blinds

November, December and January are months that are filled with holidays. Thanksgiving can bring friends and family from all over, as can Christmas and New Year's, and families with college students will soon find their homes suddenly full again.

Interior designer Jillian Harris shared some tips for those who are looking to prepare for the hectic holiday season, which can be accomplished through both big and small changes.

Harris advises that those who are looking to change up a room for company may want to think about using grays, which are a popular trend in design at the moment. By painting walls in a light, neutral color and adding metallic or jewel accents, one can make a space both unique and inviting.

Textures can often be a much more subtle way of getting a space ready for company. Having a tablecloth with a totally different style of placemats, napkins and napkin holders can add a pinch of exciting contrast to the dining experience.

Another way to decorate for the holidays is to invest in wood blinds. These window treatments can lend an air of dignity to any room, and make any event seem both traditional and relaxed.
