Budget-conscious homeowners may want to invest in faux wood blinds

Frank Fontana, the host of HGTV's Design on a Dime, recently shared practical and affordable design tips with Express Night Out, claiming that everyone had a little bit of a designer in them.

First, he says that homeowners needs to forget everything they think about style, color or furniture. Instead, they should focus on comfort, because that is the most important element to any room.

While he admits that it's perfectly acceptable to buy furnishings from department stores, because affordable design is popular at the moment, he claims that amateur designers shouldn't try to find a deal on hardware, because the improper tools can make any do-it-yourself job difficult or even dangerous.

He also recommends that homeowners who are unsure of what to paint should try putting a base layer of a single color down, to gauge how it looks, since one can always paint over the shade later.

Fontana also told the news provider that he is a big fan of faux items. Faux wood blinds are ideal for the budget-conscious, because they have the understated grace of wood blinds, but are much more affordable and durable, because they are made from synthetic material.
