Christmas is just around the corner. It is now time for the colorful lights, Christmas trees, sparkling ribbons and other decors. Now, you are stressed on how you are going to decorate your house utilizing everything that is with you. Don’t let this stress take over the fun you should be enjoying this season. Make use of these top 10 decorating ideas for this holiday.
1. Make a Citrus Wreath.
Rather than using the traditional wreath which is dull and outdated, why not make your own by using citrus fruits. Not only will this add a new vibe to your regular Christmas decors, it will also bring in new colors to your Christmas house. The homemade wreath of citrus fruits can be easily made using a circular florist’s foam. Use some wooden picks to secure large items like the oranges to the wreath. For an additional color, use smaller citrus fruits like kumquats and limes.2. Sweater those Candleholders.
To add warmth to your home during this chilly holiday season, wrap your candleholders with sweater-like material. Make a wrap-it-up candleholder using old sweaters or wool socks as your wrapper. See to it that the wrapper is neatly laid flat on your candleholders by securing it with glue or sewing it in place. Finish it off with some colorful flowers and ribbons.3. Spice up your bedroom too.
During the holidays, often only the living room and dining areas are given attention. They are the spaces that are usually decorated with different ornaments. We always forget our bedrooms. It is about time you change the way you decorate your house by now giving a little attention to your bedroom. By simply adding some garlands on your bed, you can already bring the Christmas spirit inside your room. What’s better than waking up to some Christmas-y smell each morning? Who told you that Christmas decors must strictly be greens and reds? Gone with the old and in with the new by embracing other colors on your decorations. Rather than using the traditional green and red Christmas balls, use the blue or violet ones. Instead of using green wreaths, make your own citrus wreath just like above.5. Use old Christmas cards as tree ornaments.
Don’t know what to do with your old Christmas cards? Don’t throw it away. Instead hang each of them to your Christmas tree. It is a cheap and affordable décor that could not only save you money but will also help you reminisce on the dedications shared to you by your loved ones.6. Take advantage of broken Christmas balls.
Don’t throw away vintage Christmas balls just because you could no longer hang them to your Christmas tree for they are broken. Rather, use them to create a centerpiece by gathering the Christmas balls on a rustic cake stand platter. Finish the look off with some green leaves on the bottom of the cake stand. If you don’t have a cake stand, simply stock in these Christmas balls inside a large glass vase and then tie the vase’s neck with a ribbon.7. Reposition those Christmas stockings.
Don’t just let those Christmas stockings settle in the fireplace. Use them as chair decorations in the dining area by hanging each of them to the respective family member’s chair. Your options are limitless. You can also hang those stockings on your staircases or even on the respective bedroom door of the recipient.8. Try white Christmas tree.
Stop using green pines as Christmas tree. There are now synthetic white Christmas trees for sale. This literally makes your Christmas snowy white.9. Use mason jars as candleholders.
