Q:
I'm looking to purchase the 2" faux wood blinds mounting them inside my window or inside mount blinds. How much window frame depth is needed for the inside mount?A:
The window frame depth required for mounting inside mount blinds may vary slightly by product. Each product will list the minimum requirements under the specifications tab. Most faux wood blinds require a minimum of 1 1/2 inches of depth however at this depth the window blinds will extend past the front edge of the window frame. For a flush mount, meaning the window blinds are contained completely within the window frame, you will need at least 3 inches of depth. Most 2" wood blinds have similar mounting depths as 2" faux wood blinds. Products such as mini blinds or window shades will have different depth requirements for mounting.
To measure your window frame depth measure from the front edge of the window frame back to the window. Keep in mind any obstructions such as molding, trim, or handles must be accounted for. For complete measuring instructions please see our how to measure blinds page.
