Q:
I am interested in buying two 72" wide X 60" long faux wood blinds. I am concerned, however by the weight of the faux wood. Are they very heavy to open such wide blinds? Are the same size wood blinds considerably lighter?A:
Faux wood blinds are heavier than real wood blinds. The vinyl material the blind slats are made from weighs more than real wood. The size for multiple blinds is determined by both the width and height as well as the type of window blinds. A faux wood blind at 72" x 60" could be made as one blind if the blinds are not going to be raised but only tilted to open them.Because larger window blinds require multiple blinds sharing a common headrail due to the weight of the blinds, faux wood blinds need to be made as 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 headrails at smaller sizes than real wooden blinds. If wide window blinds are not made with multiple blinds on a common headrail, the weight of the blinds will make them hard to raise and will also prematurely wear the lift cords and mechanisms.
