Q:
I just installed my blinds and cannot figure out how to get the blinds to work (release and come down). I tried pulling the cord both ways but they don't budge. Please adviseA:
Occasionally when horizontal blinds are packaged for shipping they are pulled up tightly. This locks the lift mechanism and makes it hard to lower the first time after installation. To lower window blinds that are locked after installation the lift mechanism needs to be released. To release the tension on the lift mechanism, grasp the bottom rail of the blinds and lift or push upwards. With your other hand or the assistance of someone else, pull the lift cord downwards and towards the center of the blinds. Once the window blinds have been lowered the first time they will work easily without the need to perform this operation each time they are raised.
