Q:
How do I remove the existing vertical blinds that are mounted in my windows?
A:
Removing vertical blinds is not much different than a horizontal blinds. The brackets are just a little different.- First, remove the valance if there is one. Most valances simply clip on or are just resting on the headrail of the blinds.
- Next, you will need to remove the vertical blind vanes if you want to keep them. We recommend this so they will not get damaged. The vanes are removed by simply opening the clips that hold them at the top slightly and pulling the vanes out.
- Once the vanes and valance are removed, its time to remove the headrail. The headrail can be mounting in a couple different ways. If it is an inside mount vertical blind, the headrail may be screwed directly into the top of the window frame. If this is the case, removed the screws and the headrail and you are done. If the blind is mounted with brackets, remove the vertical blinds from the brackets by pushing on the tab on the back of the bracket. Release the headrail while pushing the tab by swinging the back of the headrail down. Once the back if the headrail is off the bracket, remove the front side.
- Remove the mounting brackets by unscrewing the screws that fasten them in place.
