How do day–night cellular shades work?



A:
A movable middle rail lets you switch between two fabrics on one headrail—typically a sheer/light-filtering panel for daytime and a room-darkening/blackout panel for night—while keeping the clean look of honeycomb pleats.



Q: What fabric combo is most popular?


Light-filtering + blackout is the most versatile: soft daylight without glare plus near-darkness for sleep. For bright offices, some customers choose sheer (screen) + light-filtering for visibility with privacy.

Q: Do day–night honeycombs insulate as well as regular cellular shades?


Yes. You still get the air-pocket insulation of the honeycomb shades. Choosing double-cell and a blackout night fabric increases effective insulation (and helps with noise absorption) compared with single-cell light-filtering only.

Q: Will there be light gaps?


Like all inside-mount shades, small edge gaps can remain. To minimize them, consider a precise inside mount with returns/valance or an outside (overlap) mount that extends 2–3" past the window frame.

Q: What lift systems are best for day–night cellular shades?

  • Cordless for a clean, child-safe look.

  • Continuous loop on larger widths for easy, balanced operation.

  • Motorized when shades are tall, hard to reach, or you want scene control.


Q: Where do day–night cellulars make the most sense?

  • Bedrooms & nurseries: blackout at night; soft light in the morning.

  • Home offices: reduce glare by day; privacy after dark.

  • Street-facing rooms: lower the light-filtering panel for daytime privacy while keeping natural light.


Q: Any measuring tips for the best fit?

  • Measure width at top/middle/bottom; order to the tightest number for inside mounts.

  • Confirm depth clearance for the dual-rail system.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with the window coverings and wish to return them for store credit, please notify us within 30 days of receiving the order. Our customer care department will provide a Return Goods Authorization number (RGA) and shipping address for the return. Please note, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and shipping labels are not provided. Returns are for store credit only and store credit will be available immediately after the items are received (Guaranteed to Love fee is not credited).

Shutters,custom graphic shades, commercial/dealer orders are not covered.
