Q:
How do I know what size my blinds are?
A:
You can find out what size your blinds are by measuring them. For an inside mount, you want to measure inside the window frame from frame to frame or drywall to drywall in three different places. You measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom. You measure the height at the left, center, and right. Provide the smallest width and the largest height. Do not take any deductions, we will take those deductions for you. Remember to also take note of your window depth. You need to make sure you have enough to install your type of blind. There are different instructions for outside mount and some measure instructions for products such as roller shades and shutters will vary.
Q:
How do you measure for window arch blinds?
A:
Measuring for arch windows is tricky. Most manufacturers require a template to be able to accurately measure for them. Blinds Chalet does not offer specialty shaped window covering options.
Q:
How much space is needed for inside mount blinds?
A:
The amount of depth will vary based on the blind or shade you are ordering. Each manufacturer has different specifications for their brackets and hardware. With that, the hole placement on those varies. Each product on Blinds Chalet's site will list a "minimum" and "flush" mount depth under the specs tab. The minimum depth is the depth needed to securely mount the blinds. The flush mount will be the depth needed for the entire blind or shade (including valance) to sit inside the opening.
Q:
What is the best blind slat size?
A:
The size of the blind slats you choose really depends on your desired look and application. We offer 1 inch, 2 inch and 2 1/2 inch slats in most blinds.

The depth of a window is basically the measurement of the inside of the "box" from the front of the trim or wall the back, closest to the window. It is necessary to establish that you have enough depth to mount brackets securely when you are considering ordering an inside mount blind. Otherwise your best option would be a outside mounted blind.
