Helpful tip: Openness factor refers to approximately how tight the weave is. Solar screen fabrics have different textures and patterns, and the angle of the yarns can affect the passage of the light. A low openness factor means the fabric is more tightly woven and that there will be less visibility through the shade with a higher degree of light control. A high openness factor provides better view-through with a lesser degree of light control. It is within industry standard that solar screen fabrics have a minimum tolerance level of +/- 10% in openness factor. As a result, openness cannot be used to determine visibility, glare and thermal control. Dark fabrics offer the best views. Light fabrics offer the most protection from the sun’s heat and UV rays.

Roll Position
Roll position determines which side the fabric unrolls from and whether the roller tube is visible from inside your home. With a standard roll, the fabric drops behind the roll (closest to the window), and the roll is visible from the room. This option keeps the fabric tighter to the wall on an outside mount.
