For homeowners that are looking to put a unique twist on their home furnishings this year, adding accent colors or an accent wall will work wonders to create a dramatic effect. According to, the challenge is to find the right balance of color while not being overbearing in one room and being underwhelming in others.

An accent wall is an excellent way to add depth to neutral furnishings. Beige, black and brown accents will thrive the addition of a bold color such as a crisp blue or rich red. You can then use varying colors in your furnishings, such as throw pillows, blankets and window treatments, to give the space some uniformity.

On the other hand, subtle color is something that will work perfectly in a home with an open floor plan. For instance, you could use black and white accents in the living room with a singular bold color, and you can have this style flow to the dining room, for instance, which will have an accent wall in the same hue.

Soft sheer shades are the perfect choice for home renovations. These will provide superior light-filtering while still providing a view to the outdoors.
