When it comes to renovating an older home, interior designer Allanna Walker is something of an expert on the matter. She turned her passion into a business and now specializes in the area of renewing run-down abodes, according to The Mercury.

"I strive to give people that wonderful feeling of walking into a room and being happy to be there,'' she told the news provider. "I am passionate about turning a space into a functional and aesthetically pleasing room."

When asked whether she had any design rules, she explained that she didn't have any. Walker appears to design with fresh ideas in mind. When she starts with a blank room, she initially focuses on the lighting, which can have a huge impact on any space.

Walker also speculated on what the next big thing in interior design would be and told the news source that it would probably be bathrooms. She believes that they will become wet rooms and put less emphasis on tubs.

Those who are looking to refresh an old home like Walker may first want to focus on colorful window treatments. The vibrant fabrics of pleated shades can add a distinctive look to any room and also allow homeowners to control the natural lighting.
