Installation: I installed my own blinds!
I loved this blind at first but over the next few months, it would frequently unroll itself. I would then have to remove the plastic bead that stops it from unrolling and try to tighten it up. Finally, it unrolled off the roller, falling onto the floor. I contacted Blindschalet about it and they contacted the manufacturer. I was told that the issue was that I may have unrolled the blind too far but they would send me another blind. The blind hadn't been unrolled too far, but whatever...I was happy to have that problem would be corrected.
I received the replacement blind, installed it with a bit of effort wedging the roller into the bracket and the roller chain had to be literally yanked in order to roll the blind up and down because the brackets were in so tight. Obviously, this isn't acceptable for a guest to have to do (the blind is in a rarely used guest room) and so once again, I contacted Blindschalet. I was told to take a picture of the length of the blind bracket to bracket- I sent them pictures of both blinds measurements from bracket to bracket and low and behold, the new blind was .25" longer than the original blind. The manufacturer looked at the pictures and told me that the new blind is actually the correct size for my window (the old one was too small) and that they would not remake the blind. They didn't take into account that the tape measure was only there to show the bracket to bracket measurement, not the window frame measurement. At this point, I have given up.
I will say that Blindschalet has worked to resolve my issue- Meagan Jones has been very helpful and prompt in responding, so my complaint is not with Blindschalet but rather with the manufacturer of the Elite blinds. We also ordered Elite blinds (custom, large size) for the master bedroom and the living room, both of which are great.
As best as I can tell, the adhesive used to attach the blind to the roller is what has failed. To remedy my situation, I have used duct tape to refasten the blind to the roller. Because the blind doesn't unroll to the point where you see the duct tape, it is working fine. Am I satisfied with the way this has been handled, no! Unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn't "get it" and they aren't willing to admit their mistakes. We have used blinds chalet for two homes now and never had an issue. We have always taken our own blinds measurements and installed them ourselves with out issue...it is just this particular manufacturer that is the issue. I am giving this product a below average quality rating because apart from my fixing the blind, it wouldn't work. The blind itself does a great job of blocking out sun, so if you want to have a blind that works great but you may have to fix it, this is a good product...just remember the duct tape for future reference!
