Choosing a decorative scheme to highlight photos and artwork

One of the hottest trends in interior design is finding the perfect combination of color and use of light when displaying artwork and photographs. According to Vancouver's Times Colonist, interior designer Maria Leupelt has a few tips in mind for homeowners looking to display their treasured wall art.

Leupelt suggests using picture frames that are black and silver for most paint colors, but she believes that a gold frame could also work in the right setting.

"I would paint the walls with a color that is rich, yet complementary to the painting and frame, a color happy to stay in the background," Leupelt told the news source. "Colors that are too light make a wall with a number of pictures look too busy."

Another style that Leupelt advocates is the wall collage, which can be cropped to include a larger picture, or simply a display of favorite photos. She suggests using the same frame throughout, to create a uniform look that will make the pictures the attention-grabber.
