Coordinating window treatments to the nature of your space

Color is one of the main deciding factors when renewing the look of your home for the spring, especially if you're looking to replace your home's window treatments. Interior design expert Sue Rainville shared some of her insight when choosing window coverings, and color should be one of the main determining factors, according to the Abbotsford Mission Times.

"If you coordinate the window fashions with the wall color it will help visually expand the room because low contrasts keep the eye moving around the room," Rainville told the news source. "To make the window or room appear smaller and cozier, use dark, warm colors and high contrast between the window and wall."

Rainville also suggest that when combining colors within a space, a good rule of thumb is to feature the primary color in 75 percent of the room, while the secondary color should be used 15 to 25 percent.
