Faux wood blinds add natural feel to rooms

Joni Kaplan started working for a design firm 15 years ago to earn some extra money to help pay for her husband's graduate school. Now, over a decade later, Kaplan is opening her own business, Springfield News-Sun reported.

Kaplan's design studio, Ben and Me, opened June 24 and she says her design style is influenced by melding the old with the new.

"We have some really beautiful antique pieces and some traditional lines, but we move it into the present with some modern pieces. I like the idea of mixing antiques with new things. That way, things don't get stale," Kaplan told the news source.

To mix the traditional with the modern, experts recommend hanging faux wood blinds to provide a room with a natural feel. Faux wood blinds look and feel like authentic wood blinds but are less expensive since they are made from a synthetic material.

"We always recommend faux wood blinds to customers who are interested in cost-effective long-lasting blinds that bring a natural element to the home," says Chris Stanley of Blinds Chalet.
