One of the most popular decorating themes is designing an abode so that it feels like a coastal beach house. This laid-back atmosphere can make every day seem like a vacation, and The West Australian reports that fostering this feeling may only be a matter of some strategic choices.

Colors are one of the most important elements to consider when trying to create a coastal home. For the look and feel of beach, consultant Angie Hinchcliffe recommends that, to emulate that natural beauty, homeowners should emphasize hues such as pale white, light blue, teal, sea green and sandy beige.

"The key is to use white as your base for your room and add a good mix of these colors through paint, furniture and accessories," Hinchcliffe told the news provider. She added that, to create the ultimate style of relaxation, one should focus on calm, neutral colors.

Wooden blinds can be an effective way to enhance a natural theme. These window treatments can reflect a look of quiet dignity in any room and the rich, brown wood may serve to provide a pleasing contrast between light, neutral shades.
