Prevent fading with solar screen shades

HGTV.com says that one of the trends in furniture is using bright colors, and preventing them from fading is important - industry experts report that ordinary clear window can allow 80 to 90 percent of UV rays to filter through.

While one popular way to prevent fabric from fading is to install expensive windowpanes that absorb UV rays, hanging the appropriate window treatment can be easier and more cost-efficient.

According to the Seattle Times, certain roller shades can absorb sunlight and protect furniture. Solar screen shades, for instance, can let sunlight through but keep UV rays out. Solar screen shades also provide the homeowner with the ability to see the view outside while not sacrificing light control.
