In 1982, F. Michael Lorenzo was contacted by an elderly couple who wanted to craft a unique forest hideaway that blended in with the environment. He was allowed to work on the project with no constraints, according to The Tribune.

Lorenzo built the exterior from rough redwood and cedar shingles, and proceeded to craft a distinctive, sloping interior that featured strategically placed windows so the sun would pour through into the breakfast area in the morning and warm the home in the darker months of winter.

The home was sold to a retired couple who slowly turned it into their full-time residence. One of the most striking additions is a studio that has been built to highlight the design of the abode, but with the feature of a corrugated metal roof so that it has a similar appearance to a barn.

Inside, the couple has decorated with contemporary elements, which appear to provide a pleasing contrast to the rustic backdrop.
