Woven bamboo shades a staple of earthy decor

Baltimore residents Noreen and Eric Victor knew they had a bit too much space for just the two of them. The Baltimore Sun reports that the couple, who was still living in their five-bedroom Virginia home after their children moved out, decided that it was time for a new place in the city.

Once the couple got to their new place, they enlisted the help of a local interior designer, Steve Appel, to aid them in adding a fresh look to their new abode.

"Steve was such a help to us when we decided to go contemporary," Noreen Victor told the news source. "Everything here is brand new, except one chair on the third floor."

According to the news outlet, the Victors opted for an earthy decor, which is highlighted by Brazilian cherrrywood floors, granite countertops, cherry kitchen cabinets and oak panneling. In addition to its natural ambiance, the home includes an intricately carved fireplace and a collection of rugs to add color.
