Roller shades a good way to complete a child's room

Designing a child's room can be an important process. They will likely spend a significant amount of time in their bedroom, so it should be up to their liking, and The Canadian Press reports that there are several ways that parents can ensure that their child's room is.

Interior designer Betsy Burnham told the news outlet that one of the most important things to consider is to not make the room too age-specific. While it may be tempting to incorporate a design that is appealing to a young child, it may be costly to update it once they outgrow the theme.

"I don't like cutesy things — the murals, the Disney things," Burnham added to the news source. "Why give them a really babyish room when it's so expensive to change everything?"

One good way to keep things age-neutral is to use more understated accessories. Industry expert Brian Patrick Flynn suggests using vintage lighting, or chrome and brass lamps.

When it comes to the windows, parents should consider installing roller shades. Along with providing a safe way for children to change the amount of light entering their room, roller shades offer an subtle design element that will not dominate space.
