Cellular shades can lessen effects of noise pollution

When residents in Buchanan, Saskatchewan, were told that construction on a nearby highway would begin in the spring, they were also told that a noise wall would be built to lessen the impact of the cacophonous commotion carrying on. However, according to the Winnipeg Free Press, that wall has yet to be finished.

Some who live alongside the construction have noticed damages to his their house as well as the disruptive noise. The news source adds that even if the wall, which could be as tall as 25 feet tall, is completed, it may be an imposing and detrimental presence to some people, like Brian Verity. He added that the height of the wall may kill trees in his back yard.

Those who deal with noise pollution are sure to sympathize with Verity. While loud noise certainly cannot be entirely eliminated, hanging cellular shades may absorb some sound, along with damaging UV rays.

Installing cellular shades to block noise could benefit one's health, as the Environmental Protection Agency says that noise pollution could lead to high blood pressure, stress and sleep disruption.
