Roman shades from Blinds Chalet available with several featuresOct 17 2011 ![]() Roman shades can have a fuller tear drop fold or a flat fold. Consumers have a choice of the hobbled or "tear drop" fold, which has additional material between each panel for a fuller look, or flat fold roman shades. The flat fold is a contemporary look with the fabric pulled taut between each panel. A duofold, or top down bottom up, shade allows the window treatment to be raised from the bottom or lowered from the top. "This upgrade allows sunlight in while not completely blocking the view," the company's website states. Consumers should note that because the shades are suspended when they are lowered from the top down, the cords will be visible when the shade is in this position. A lift cord is included on each side of the roman shade with one used to lower it and the other to raise it. In addition, an ideal choice when no visible cords are preferred is the cordless roman shade, which is designed to be raised or lowered without a lift cord. A rollease upgrade offered by Blinds Chalet allows easier operation of larger roman shades. Because of their extra weight, a continuous cord loop makes raising and lowering the shades easier.
