Living room style needs to strike a balance between comfort and style
Jun 30 2011
The living room has a special place in most homes as the place where visitors are most likely to be entertained. But as families in busy households find themselves using all their livable space, the living room needs to be comfortable for everyday use as well.
A living room can be both stylish and comfortable for everyday use.
Adding accessories or a special piece of furniture can add a touch of elegance that will set the living room apart without interfering with daily use of the room.
"Instead of the stiff and proper parlor of yesterday - where you were nervous and uncomfortable to be in - decorate a living room that you look forward to using for various functions with the family, entertaining friends or just some quiet time," advises InteriorHomeDecoratingIdeas.com.
The website suggests adding conversation niches in front of a living room window or in a corner of the room. A small conversation area can be arranged with two chairs and a small table between them, or two loveseats can be arranged facing each other.
A complementary fabric and color from the main pieces in the room can be incorporated into curtains or custom draperies. To manage light and add privacy when needed, home decorators can find custom blinds online in a wide assortment of styles.
