Neutral shades will highlight your design choices
Jun 6 2011
In small spaces such as a studio apartment or a dorm room, using brightly-colored accents can be overwhelming. According to The Oregonian, an apartment with a prominent window is better served with a neutral window shade that will allow your smaller accents, such as area rugs, lamps and artwork, to brighten the space.
Neutral shades will highlight your design choices.
There are many neutral shades on the market that won't detract from your design choices. Soft sheer shades are hugely popular, as they offer superior light-filtering ability while still providing a view to the outdoors. This will let in a soft, muted light during the daytime that will limit glare and reduce heat during the warm months.
Using curtains in conjunction with your new blinds is another way to add some color to your small space. Choose a prevailing hue, and then utilize throw pillows and rugs to use varying shades of the same color. If you're looking for a bit more texture, roman shades are the way to go. These come in a wide range of colors and styles, and they have a timeless appeal that will never go out of style.
