When Annie Hosken was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2006, she and her husband Bill knew they would have to make changes to accomodate her ailment. Thanks to local home builders, they constructed a wheelchair accessible and ALS friendly house, mlive.com reports.

Among the features in the home are large doorways, European-style door handles and hardwood floors. It was all built to make every day life easier for Annie and she says the builders were successful in doing so.

“I really like our house,” she told the news source. “We’ve been very happy with the builders. There’s nothing we’d do different."

Motorized blinds are an easy to use window treatment for those who may not be able to operate traditional blinds as easily. Experts say that motorized blinds make it very simple to block or allow light in a room from just the push of a button. Ordinary blinds, on the other hand, require the user to manually adjust the setting which can be difficult to get correct on the first try.
