Customized drapery or blinds can give a room a unique focal point
May 6 2011
One of the easiest ways to personalize the look of any room is to customize a window treatment that creates a one-of-a-kind focal point.
Antique lace curtains are among the window coverings that work well for summer decorating.
A customized look can be achieved with both window shades or blinds and the drapery that overhangs them. For instance, buying custom blinds online gives a homeowner a wide selection of window blinds that can be fitted to any size or shape window in a range of colors and finishes.
Panels of custom drapery can manage how much natural light comes into a room and pull together the overall look of a space by coordinating the drapes with other soft furnishings in the room, such as pillows, upholstery and linens.
"Choosing your own fabric, rather than buying a ready-made drapery, enables you to make coordinating cushions or cover a chair with the same material," according to StyleAtHome.com. "With custom-made draperies, you can also ensure that the lining coordinates from one room to the next so that there's a continuous look from the outside of your home."
Some window treatments work as well with contemporary or traditional décor. Antique lace panels, for instance, coordinate with traditional upholstered furniture, but also with modern designs.
