Vern Yip is the star of HGTV's Deserving Design with Vern Yip and he recently sat down with the Columbia-Daily Tribune to share some of his insight into today's interior design. Yip prefers an approach that doesn't pigeonhole homeowners into one style, and creating a multidimensional scheme that reflects the personality of the decorator.

Yip believes that the future of interior design is incorporating multiple decorative accents to reflect the interests of the homeowner.

"We used to live in a day and age where everything had to be in one style. It was expected for your to be committed to traditional or contemporary. Those days are so long past," Yip told the news source.

Yip believes that no matter what you choose to liven up your space, a few touches of black and white will go with everything and add an edgy quality to the room.

One way to use these versatile neutrals is in the form of window blinds and shades. Soft sheer shades provide excellent light filtering and can be a perfect option for living rooms, home offices and bedrooms.
