Creating a vibrant living space without a distinct style in mind

Textile designer Christiane Lemieux recently released a new book called, Undecorate: The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design. The book shares Lemieux's philosophy of no-frills interior decorating and using her experience with fabrics and patterns, she believes homeowners can create a distinctive space with objects that reflect the resident's personality, according to the Los Angeles Times.

"These homes don't have pristine spaces or flawless furniture," Lemieux wrote, "but their sense of vitality and surprise nevertheless makes them beautiful."

Lemieux shares in her book that achieving personality in your living space is far more important that striving for perfection. It's about having fun with the design process and staying true to what you think is stylish.

For instance, one of her living rooms features vintage posters, so she designed the space around an old chest for a coffee table, and used an antique clock to liven up the space. The real message of her book is that while your home doesn't have to be perfect, it shouldn't be dull.
