Ceiling color and motorized shades come together wellMar 21 2011 ![]() Motorized blinds or shades are a good choice for large windows near high ceilings. But a new paint job doesn't have to end where the wall meets the ceiling, especially in a room with no crown molding to act as a transition, reports Hamptons.com. "A great thing to do in a room without crown molding is to paint the walls and ceiling the same color," home design consultant Cindy Lee Bergersen told the website. "Without the distraction of a color shift, the walls will seem higher. It's a seamless room without borders." However, in a room with modern architecture, or one with cathedral ceilings, a bright white ceiling goes well with white doors and window trims to create a clean, crisp look, Bergersen said. Motorized blinds or shades are a good choice as window treatments for large windows that border high ceilings and cathedral-style rooms. They are also easy to maneuver with an electric switch or a remote control. Light that comes in throughout the day can be controlled by the shades and lifted to reveal starry skies at night.
