Painting walls different shades will break up long room look in mobile homes
Mar 14 2011
One of the decorating challenges faced be people who live in mobile homes is how to overcome the look of one long room as their living space.
Using different shades on the walls of a mobile home creates the look of a uniform room size.
According to DecoratingYourSmallSpace.com, mobile home dwellers should break up the lengthy expanse by using different colors on the walls.
"If you have a long room, you can give it a balanced look by painting one of the walls at the 'long end' a darker shade of whatever color you choose for the room," the website recommends. "It will bring that one wall closer in, and make the space seem more uniform in shape."
Another important feature in mobile home décor is the use of wall-mounted lighting that can enlarge the look of the space by illuminating every corner. Sheer, lightweight fabrics for window treatments will also provide an airy, open feel that gives the illusion of more space. For privacy, roller shades or window blinds can be added to match any size window.
In small spaces, accessories need to be kept to a minimum to prevent them from looking too cluttered. Leaving counter space and other surfaces as clutter-free as possible will enhance the overall look of a mobile home's interior.
