Interior decorating is an art form that takes special preparation and practice, but many homeowners swear by the concepts of Feng Shui. This ancient Chinese practice of providing balance and harmony to everyday life can be easily applied to interior design, where individuals control how their environment affects them.

Feng Shui school director Sarah McAllister believes that the interior design style can shake up the look of your bedroom and actually help you get a better night's rest.

"Remove any beams or cupboards above the bed because these create a feeling of being oppressed," McAllister told SafeStore.co.uk. In addition, she believes removing a solid headboard and placing the bed away from windows and water pipes will create a sense of security.

With this week being National Sleep Awareness Week, now is the perfect time to take a good look at your sleeping arrangements to see if you can find more balance in your setup.

Room darkening shades such as SlumberShades are perfect for bedrooms and consumers that have a tough time falling asleep. The shades will completely block out light allowing you to reach deep sleep that will have you feeling refreshed the next day.
