Solar screen shades cut computer glare in student dorm rooms
Mar 2 2011
When college students are away at school for several months, they may want a touch of home to make their rooms feel more comfortable.
Bringing in small touches of home can make a college dorm room attractive and comfortable.
Viewed as a small apartment, a student's dorm room serves as a bedroom, study area and living room, as well as a place to just get away from the stress of daily classes and exams.
But decorating a dorm room to be both comfortable and functional can be kept affordable. According to RentalDecorating.com, a bed ensemble will determine the color scheme for the rest of the room.
"The bed often doubles as a coffee table, couch, or study area and is the largest piece of furniture in most dorm rooms, so it's key to choose a comforter that reflects your style and won't immediately show dirt," advises the website.
Solar screen shades are a good choice for a college room because they reduce the glare on computer screens. They can be found in a variety colors and are energy efficient because they regulate room temperature.
For additional lighting, a desk or task lamp is necessary to prevent eye strain during reading or computer use, but a floor lamp will cast a softer glow in the room.
