Window treatments and coverings work better in tandem
Feb 25 2011
Window treatments can add personality and style to your home, and in combination with window coverings can significantly reduce your utility bills. According to Larry Morin, the owner of Decorators Network Inc., form and function must be considered when picking out your new curtains or drapes, according to the Sun Journal.
Roller shades are an energy-efficient window covering that features light filtering and sunscreen fabrics.
"Window treatments offer more than just decorating or complementing your decor," Morin told the news source. "So, the first question you need to ask yourself is: What do you want the treatment to do? Do you need privacy, light or sun control, view preservation or energy efficiency?"
Morin suggests maximizing your light usage by using solar screen shades that allow natural light to come in during the day but will prevent air leakage during the evening. In addition, he suggests using vertical patterns and raising the top treatments above the head of the window to give the illusion of higher ceilings.
Because they provide consumers with privacy, style and energy-efficiency, roller shades could be the perfect option for your home. They are available in a number of fabrics and colors and feature light filtering and sunscreen fabrics for the perfect usage of light.
