Make room look larger with wood blinds

For some people, having a small apartment might seem like a bad thing. That's not the case for Houston resident Chris Nguyen, whose 450 square foot abode recently won the Apartment Therapy’s Small, Cool 2010 contest, the Daily Comet reports.

While most would feel cramped in such a small space, Nguyen took it as a challenge to make the most out of his space. He even relished the challenge and enjoys the difficulties.

“A small space challenges your brain for smart solutions, which seems like a lot more fun way to live,” Nguyen told the news outlet.

Nguyen made the most of his space by doing things like turning a ceiling fan into a pendant-style light.

For people who are not quite as happy with limited living space, there are a number of ways to make rooms look bigger than they really are.

For instance, experts suggest that letting in natural light is an easy way to create the illusion of a big room. Hanging wood blinds is a perfect way to add natural light to a room because they can easily control the amount of exposed light. Wood blinds also add a natural warmth to any room they are hung in.
