Interior designer shares trendy space-planning tips

Kathleen Navarra recently spoke with the San Francisco Chronicle, and highlighted some of her main design principles that homeowners can apply to their own living space. The New York School of Interior Design graduate has worked for many major firms and recently established her own called Navarra Design.

Much of Navarra's design philosophy centers around creative use of color and personality. Bright shades are an ally of any interior decorator, and experimenting with different hues could help you find the perfect solution. She suggests painting your walls several times to live with your choice to see how it looks at different times of the day.

In addition to adding color and function, Navarra believes that every space should say something about the owner, so injecting one's personality can work wonders. A brightly colored pillow or throw, along with a chic flea market find could create an instant conversation piece for personal style, according to the news source.
