Motorized window blinds are a good choice for skylight window treatment
Feb 9 2011
When Chicago area resident Kathleen Luttschyn and her husband needed to move their home office to make way for a nursery, it forced them to make better use of a loft space at the top of their stairs.
Motorized window blinds or shades are good choices for a skylight window treatment.
As she wrote on ApartmentTherapy.com, the couple was determined to use mostly furnishings they already owned to save money for the baby's room. But they first had to decide what to do with a random mix of artwork, office furniture, cookbooks and a movie collection.
Luttschyn writes that the couple did what many home organizers suggest – clear the clutter and store like items together. That meant the cookbooks went to the kitchen, the movie collection was organized and stored elsewhere, and art and photos they treasured were gathered onto a gallery wall.
The only window in the space is a skylight. For homeowners who have a similar setup, motorized window blinds or shades are good choices for a skylight window treatment. They can be easily controlled by a hand-held remote control or through wall electrical switches.
"While the loft is still imperfect, it did force us to look at our old belongings in new ways and to use things we may have otherwise donated or stored," wrote Luttschyn on ApartmentTherapy.com.
