Virginia office wins Green Design AwardFeb 4 2011 ![]() Honeycomb cell shades are energy efficient and could save you money on heating bills. Burgess enlisted the help of the Smith Group to design its new office space and the firm did not disappoint. Burgess Group hoped that its new office would exude the company's "stablity, permanence and authenticity." Natural light was a major design consideration, and the Smith Group installed sensors to respond to varying levels of daylight that will dim lights when they're not needed. In addition, Burgess has also cut down on its water usage by using low-flow plumbing fixtures. This will decrease potable water usage by 55 percent. Along with the green construction, the office is close to the Washington D.C. Metro and train station, to urge their employees to use public transportation and do their part for the planet. If you're looking for an easy way to stay energy efficient in your home, consider honeycomb cell shades. These offer insulation for heat or air conditioning which could save you money on your energy bills.
