One of the newest trends in interior design is the mom cave, a space that is specifically created by and for mothers. This can include any interest or hobby that a mom enjoys and is usually a private, secluded spot where she can recuperate after a hard day.

Take Mary Kammerer, who uses the spare bedroom in her house as her own personal mom cave, according to Florida Today.

"It puts me in a whole new world, where I can relax," she told the news source.

One difference between mom and man caves is that there are usually activities within the area. Women often use there private spaces to balance checkbooks, talk on the phone or knit. Because they are more socially inclined than men, they also need at least an ottoman in the room, in order to accommodate a visitor. The most important part of these caves is that the rest of the family knows to leave moms to themselves.

A relaxing room isn't complete without beautiful window treatments as well. In addition to providing a luxurious feel, cell shades can capture cold air before it gets into a home, preventing drafts from spoiling the space.
