Roller shades for windows show that good design isn't just for the wealthy
Jan 20 2011
The average homeowner is just the customer that interior designer Michele Blasco wants. Good design isn't just the purview of rich celebrities, and Blasco strives to prove that each time she's hired by a client.
Good home design should reflect the homeowner's personality.
"I aim to reach the average person who wants to make their home a better place to live," Blasco told the Bartlett Press, a newspaper in Downers Grove, Ilinois. "I like the challenge of going into someone's home and making it a whole new living space."
In her interior design and home staging business, Blasco tries to get homeowners involved in the design process as much as possible to bring their personalities into their rooms, the newspaper reported.
Recycling furniture for new uses and applying a different look to them is also an affordable way to approach the decorating scheme of a home. Having a plan for buying furnishings, particularly big-ticket items such as sofas, is important to avoid acquiring furniture that is too large for a room, Blasco told the newspaper.
Roller shades for windows are an inexpensive, but versatile choice that will fit any home décor with a wide range of fabrics, colors and patterns. They also are in line with Blasco's philosophy of making thrifty choices when outfitting a room.
