Roman shades are one of many choices that give home design pro's touch

Home decorators can learn from the practices of professional interior designers to turn their living quarters into the rooms of their dreams.
Homeowners should look to the latest trends in colors and interior design to shape their home decorating plans.
According to Virginia-based interior decorator Nina James, writing for the website of Entrepreneurs International, homeowners should pay attention to the latest trends to help them shape their own ideas about what design styles are best for them. That's what professionals do for their decorating clients all the time, James wrote.
"An interior decorator can modify the thoughts and ideas of the customers and implement them in a more professional, innovative and trendy manner," she wrote for EIPune.org. "[They] improve the existing look of the entire house by adding or remodeling ornaments and furniture to give a fresh new aura to the home."
An important feature in any room is the the amount of natural light brought into a space by the windows. The choice of window treatments can greatly influence how well light is distributed in a room.
Roman shades, for instance, incorporate shape, texture and color depending on the material chosen. Roman shades have a softer look that works best in a residential setting. Light-filtering versions of this style also allows natural light to permeate a room without giving up privacy.
