Roman shades can offset an elegant, five-star bed ensemble
Dec 17 2010
Layering different textures and complementary colors in bed coverings is the way to create a look fit for a bedroom in a five-star hotel.
Layering a bed ensemble gives a finished look to a bedroom.
According to Ultimate Home magazine, well-coordinated furnishings and sufficient storage are important features in a bedroom. But the bed can be the focus of the room if it is outfitted properly.
It begins with a sheet set that will match or enhance the choose of the duvet covers, shams and coverlets that are placed on top and a bedskirt for a finished look. Homeowners can choose coverlets from a variety of fabrics, colors and styles.
The duvet cover for the bed's comforter is often the same pattern as the shams at the head of the bed. European-style shams cover large, square pillows placed against the headboard. Boudoir shams cover smaller, travel-size pillows for pure decoration.
A bedskirt is a good way to hide an unsightly box spring and give a tailored finish to the overall ensemble.
For a window treatment, roman shades are a good choice to offset an elegantly decorated bed. They are available in a wide range of fabrics, including light-filtering versions that allow natural light to permeate a room without giving up privacy.
