Match a tree and living room with roller shades

Christmas trees seem simple enough - just hang ornaments and lights and it's done - but some designers have recently offered tips to The Washington Examiner that ambitious homeowners may want to use this year as they deck the halls.

The tree doesn't just have to be adorned with glittering objects that are pulled out of a box in the attic. Instead, try to incorporate sentimental pieces into the branches as well, such as family photos and childhood toys.

To complement the evergreen theme of the living room, some may also want to spring for a centerpiece of fruit or garland, as well as candles. One designer even suggests matching the decorations to the existing room.

"I ... love to have a tree that is a theme-colored tree to blend with a room. If your room is blue, there is no problem having a blue-themed holiday," expert David Herchick told the news provider.

Window treatments shouldn't be neglected while preparing for the holidays, either. Fabric shades are available in a number of vibrant colors. Roller shades in particular may suit a living room, because they can be fully drawn to allow maximum daylight into the space, while they can also be closed tight against a window to enhance the existing hues.
