Bamboo woven wood shades complement an Asian-inspired roomNov 30 2010 ![]() An Asian-inspired dining room has clean lines and dark wood furniture. According to HGTV.com, Dacoda followed two main ideas to get the look. One was to create high contrast between warmer tones to make the modern design look cozy. The other concept was to consider both color and texture when choosing an area rug, because texture makes a space feel more intimate. For color choices, the main walls were done in a creamy off-white offset by a back wall that graduated from deep brown to black. Accessories included red-glazed pottery pieces and a modern version of an Asian scroll. Instead of a traditional buffet, Dacoda attached a large, floating shelf across one wall to act as a sideboard. Rather than use a chandelier common to dining rooms, lighting was housed in two beams installed in the ceiling. An ideal window treatment in such a room would be bamboo woven wood blinds, which have a natural look that goes well with warm earth tones and the Asian influence of the room.
