Horizontal fabric shades go well with a decorative throw in a reading area
Nov 23 2010
On chilly days, decorative throws are a practical addition to bedrooms or cozy reading areas in the family den or living room. But they can also complement the colors and textures of any style décor.
A decorative throw can add color and comfort to a reading area.
From grandmother's crocheted afghan to contemporary weaves, a throw can add a spurt of color to neutral shades in sofas and chairs, according to UltimateHomeMagazine.com.
"Instantly add on the finishing touches to a room by accessorizing with a throw blanket," the website advises. "Brighten up a solid color couch or sitting chair with a patterned or complementary-colored throw…an accent throw may [also] be used to dress up or bring out the colors of a particular bed ensemble."
Throws can be personalized with monogrammed initials, club insignia or a family crest to add a unique touch for gift-giving at birthdays or holiday time.
If placed on a reading chair near a window, a decorative throw blanket can be coordinated with the colors of the window treatment. Horizontal fabric shades comes in a range of fabrics, colors and print designs. They have the look of a window shade, but the individual slats are reminiscent of a venetian blind.
