Practice holiday safety with motorized blindsNov 18 2010 ![]() Practice holiday safety with motorized blinds The Weekly recently listed a few ways that families can safely accommodate the elderly when they are visiting for the holiday season. First, one should make sure that tangles of cords are safely stowed away in a corner. These can be a tripping hazard to those who aren't sure on their feet and make a room look cluttered. Hosts should also make sure that welcome mats and other carpets are secure, so that there isn't a possibility that they could slip when one steps onto them. Nightlights should be installed in hallways and bathrooms as well, for those who have to get up at night. Likewise, motorized blinds can be practical window treatments for any room with an older guest. This way, seniors won't have to travel across a dim room to open the windows during the day. These blinds are available in a variety of different styles, so they can be aesthetic additions to any room as well.
