Decorate a cabin with woven shadesJun 15 2010 ![]() Decorate a cabin with woven shades "I suggest you install a shade that works with your decor rather than reinstalling draperies," interior designer Leanne Brownoff told the Edmonton Journal, addressing a woman who faced this decorating dilemma. "You will get the view and still be able to control the temperature and light as needed, [and you] can maintain privacy - not to mention security when you are not there." Brownoff added that without woven shades, which can partially block out sun rays, cottages can become overheated and uncomfortable. Those who'd like the best of both worlds would also benefit from woven shades, since an open weave can let light stream in while still offering privacy to the cabin-dwellers inside. Woven shades made of a natural material, such as bamboo, can last for years, according to experts at Southern Living. Homeowners should periodically vacuum the shades with a brush attachment to keep the woven coverings looking their best.
