Woven shades can can complete kitchen

Windows may not be the first thing on a homeowner's mind when they are decorating their kitchen. Choosing the right window treatment, however, can be the final ingredient that makes a kitchen complete says HGTV.com.

According to interior design expert Sue Pelley, homeowners should replace heavy window coverings with simple shades.

Pelley added that one of the most important aspects when addressing windows in the kitchen is allowing enough natural light to filter in. While there are a number of options, Pelley suggests using pleated shades to provide some flexibility.

"Pleated shades offer a privacy treatment and still allow plenty of light," Pelley told the news source.

But pleated shades are certainly not the only option for light control. If too much sun is making a kitchen hot and unpleasant, woven shades can be used to control the amount of heat that enters the room.

Woven shades made from bamboo can also benefit the environmentally minded designer as well - bamboo is a sustainable material and a renewable resource.
