Blinds can be as useful as they are stylish

Teresa Leaptrott, who's home is almost finished being rebuilt after a fire destroyed it 10 months ago, is looking forward to installing blinds in her home, reports The Villages Daily Sun. Because her backyard looks out across a golf course, blinds will provide privacy, as every once in awhile a stray golfer's face pops up in the window.

In addition to privacy, blinds also afford homeowners the luxury of controlling the amount of sunlight let in. According to This Old House magazine, homeowners looking for window treatments that eliminate all light should select blinds with a a lot of slats per foot, and make sure the cord holes are at the back of the slats as the blinds will close more tightly.

When installing blinds in bathrooms or rooms exposed to an abundance of moisture and humidity, individuals should opt for faux wood blinds. While the blinds will possess the same charming and elegant aesthetic as real wood blinds, they will not warp and are resistant to mold and mildew.
